Fast Fashion and Why We're Turning Away in 2025

Fast Fashion and Why We're Turning Away in 2025

It’s a trend that is hard to turn away from, especially with social media and the option of new and exciting pieces landing in our inboxes at all hours of the day. But the production and consumption of clothing at the current rate is undoubtedly, taking a massive toll, not just on the people who produce these items, but on the world as a whole.

Fast fashion isn’t necessarily easily classified, although most people would agree that there’s a particular ruthlessness to the way that this fashion is made, marketed and sold. Instead of dropping a collection twice a year, say for Summer and Winter, these businesses now have the ability to produce new styles within days of concept - think big businesses like Shein and Temu. Companies have been rewarded for producing in bulk volumes to achieve economies of scale and therefore lower manufacturing costs - but in turn what is the actual cost to our world.

The jewellery side of things isn’t immune to this either. We have been inundated with brands that spruik gold plated goodies that have no restrictions around the types of materials used as their base metal. You buy a shiny new ring for $100 and have no idea what the bulk of the ring is actually made of. Within months the thin layer of gold has worn off and you are left with an unwearable piece that is bound only for landfill. For the future of our children, we hope to move away from this. We can do this by choosing purity - solid gold rather than plated. It doesn’t wear off, doesn’t fade, holds its value over time and can be worn forever. We can do this by being mindful of where our precious metals come from - we use Australian gold… mined here, processed here and then transformed into beautiful pieces here.

Quality solid gold pieces go hand in hand with a movement to slow fashion. Only with a sustainable mindset, can we forge a stable future for our littles - showing them that quality over quantity will win every time. Our aim is for you to truly love your pieces. To want to wear them for life - to pass these pieces on to your loved ones when the time is right and to build memories around them all. Because it’s all about legacy.
